SWIR in Astronomy
See space in SWIR. Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) cameras made from lattice-matched InGaAs are ideal for use in astronomy for study in the J- and H-band. The 1280SciCam is the only ITAR-Free high-resolution camera available in the world. Ideal for telescopes, it is the highest-resolution cooled commercial camera available at 1280x1024 pixels with a small pitch at 12µm. The 1280SciCam, available in visible response in addition to SWIR response, from 0.4 to 1.7 µm, allows cooling to -60°C, which enables integration times as long as 3 minutes with low readnoise <45e-. The 1280SciCam allows for high frame rate imaging of >93Hz at full frame rate or with windowing down to 320x8 at 16.6kHz, while maintaining the low noise level. The camera uses a water-cooled or fan-cooled system which allows for minimization of vibrations while on telescopes. Triggering is also available to allow synchronization with other cameras and equipment.
